PCE Ltd wins Best Use of Concrete Technology for Building C

Following their being shortlisted for two categories in the Offsite Awards 2023, PCE Ltd won the ‘Best Use of Concrete Technology’ for their work on Building C.

PCE Ltd’s innovative design and build superstructure and façade solutions have been used at Assembly Bristol, where its systemised, hybrid, 'kit of parts' approach - the HybriDfMA Frame System - was used to provide industry-leading optimisation, efficiency and quality in the construction of Building C.

The 14-storey hybrid structure structure showcases exposed concrete in its raw form, a feat that required meticulous design considerations to ensure the building blends harmoniously with the iconic Bristol skyline.

As well as the striking aesthetics of the structure, the whole process from meticulous design and just-in-time logistical planning, to the high-performance properties of the highly-crafted concrete, ensured the project stood out. The seamlessly coordinated delivery meant it was not only efficient but also significantly curtailed carbon emissions, enhancing predictability and control across the project.

The Hybrid DfMA (Design for Manufacture and Assembly) approach not only minimised waste and substantially reduced on-site deliveries, but each level was completed within a swift 13 days with a lean team of 12 operatives.
